Some wins are quiet. Others shake the ground you walk on.
Saturday, 12th July 2025 was the day the ground shook in Maungu.
After months of focused training, late-night revisions, and fearless teamwork, our girls did the unthinkable. At the Voi Boys High School Mathematics Contest, St. Joseph Girls Maungu outperformed 20 schoolsâincluding two national giantsâbecoming a beacon of brilliance in Voi and Mwatate Sub-counties.
This wasnât just a victory.
It was a revolution.
A message to the world: Girls need not fear Mathematics.
đĄ A Vision Led by Faith and Focus
This triumph wasnât born overnight. It came from the unwavering belief of our school leadership, beginning with Sister Clementina, our principal. Her calm presence, faith-filled guidance, and consistent support gave our girls the confidence to reach higher.
The real engine, however, was the Mathematics Department, powered by an incredible team:
- Mr. Kevin â Dean of Studies, strategist, and motivator
- Mr. Charles Kitsao â Our numbers genius and coding expert
- And the woman turning fear into power: Madam Julie Mugho.
Madam Julie is more than a Math teacher.
She is a living reminder that girls belong in STEM.
Her passion, confidence, and encouragement have dismantled the myth that math is a âboysâ subject.â She leads by exampleâbreaking barriers, solving problems, and raising fearless female mathematicians.

Out of 20 competitive schools, these three rose above:
đ Manuela Taaka (Form 2) â Overall Best Student
đ„ Graca Muthoni (Form 4) â Second Best Overall Student
đ„ Mary Kioko (Form 3) â Third in Girlsâ Category
These werenât just lucky moments. These were results of dedication, coaching, belief, and consistency. Their wins are proof that when girls are given tools, time, and trustâthey can conquer anything, even mathematics.
đ When the Town Celebrates With You
By the time the school van returned from Voi, Maungu was ready.
The cheers. The dancing. The tears. Students ululated. Parents lined the roads. Teachers stood with quiet pride.
Our girls had done more than win a trophyâthey had made a statement.
In a world where girls are often told what they canât do, our girls showed what they absolutely can.

This victory marks a beginning, not an end.
We are now aiming for science congresses, tech fairs, national contests, and international stages. St. Joseph Girls Maungu is no longer just a school. We are a launchpadâfor innovators, for leaders, for girls who dare to dream.
