💧 Rain to Resilience: How St. Joseph Girls is Securing Water for the Future 💧

At St. Joseph Girls Secondary School Maungu, every drop now tells a story.

A story of hope.
A story of courage.
A story of transformation.

During the first term holidays, while many schools went silent, our campus came alive with the sound of purpose. Piping. Digging. Planning. Action.

We launched a game-changing water harvesting project—right here in Maungu Town.

Why?
Because water is life. And in our dry region, every season without enough water means real hardship. But we’re done waiting for the rain to come and go without lasting impact. This time, we’re ready.

We laid down pipes to collect rainwater from our rooftops and direct it to a brand-new, 1.8 million-litre dam. Let that sink in—1.8 million litres! That’s not just a dam. It’s a lifeline.

This dam means girls at St. Joseph will no longer have to worry about water shortages during dry spells. It means our crops will grow, our hygiene will improve, and our dreams won’t dry up with the sun.

But this wasn’t just us.

This miracle began thousands of kilometres away—in Luxembourg.

With hearts full of generosity, Kristina Teppo and Guilhem Türk, together with their team of donors, saw our need and responded with love, funding, and faith. Their kindness didn’t just build a dam; it built hope.

They didn’t just send money; they sent a message:

“You are not forgotten.”

To Kristina, Guilhem, and every single hand and heart behind this—thank you. You’ve etched your names into the soul of our school.

To our girls, this dam is more than water—it’s proof that when we plant effort and water it with faith, something beautiful grows. It’s a lesson that life can be tough, but we can be tougher, smarter, more united.

To anyone reading this who believes small schools in remote places don’t matter—come visit us. Walk our grounds. See the strength in our students’ eyes. Witness what determination, teamwork, and a little rainwater can do.

This is just the beginning.

We dream of a greener campus. Of sustainable farming. Of self-sufficiency. Of girls learning, growing, and becoming the change-makers of tomorrow—all because someone believed enough to build something as simple, and powerful, as a dam.

Because when you give girls water, you give them time.
Time to learn. Time to lead. Time to rise.
